“We’re trying to, in essence, meet guys where they are. Most of them are coming out of incredible childhood trauma who never had a chance, and to provide for them some opportunity at a different kind of life—one that most of them don’t even know is possible."

About Men of Valor
Men of Valor was founded by Carl Carlson in 1997 after he experienced first hand what it was like to return from prison. What started as a prison ministry, has grown into an organization with 2 campuses, a curriculum being circulated nationwide, thousands of men served, and countless lives saved. The program focuses on men and the unique needs that they have in restoring family ties, fatherhood, employment, and education. The Program
The program begins behind the walls of prison. Volunteers and staff meet the men where they are and begin to build trust. They walk them through what life at Men of Valor looks like and how it would help make a transition back into society easier for them. Once they arrive on campus for the 12-month reentry program, they have a "breather" period. The first 30 days is all about taking things slow and getting their basic needs met. They receive help getting their license, insurance, and electronics training. Day 31, each individual gets a job. Local companies are clamoring to get Men of Valor guys because they know how hard they work and the support system that have coming along with them. The rest of the program is broken up into quarterly periods where they receive different counseling and classroom style instruction. They also pair each man up with a community volunteer who agrees to be a mentor. They are there to build stronger relationships, support, and provide guidance. Whatever they need in order to continue their journey to restoration, they get!
At the end of the year is a graduation ceremony complete with cap and gowns, pomp and circumstance, a worship service, and testimonials from each graduate. Everyone from campus and people from the community show up to support these men and all of the hard work they've put in. It is a powerful way to put an exclamation point to the entire experience.
Bob Barker Foundation
The Bob Barker Foundation was founded in 2009 with the vision to reduce recidivism. We aim to develop and support programs that help incarcerated individuals successfully reenter society and stay out for life. The foundation is funded through donations of the Bob Barker Company. At least 10% of company profit is tithed into the foundation each year and that money is then provided to organizations like Men of Valor in the form of annual grants. The foundation has granted over $10 Million dollars to 543 organizations since 2009.
