As you may be aware, the International Longshoremen’s Association is striking at East and Gulf Coast ports. The strike means that ports in the eastern U.S. are closed, and they will not accept imports until the strike is resolved.
We have been monitoring the situation leading up to the ILA strike for months and took as many precautions as possible to prepare for port closures. Although we import goods from countries that deliver to eastern U.S. ports, we are in a favorable position to serve our customers despite the strike.
We operate two warehouses, one in North Carolina and one in Utah. While our North Carolina warehouse may eventually experience effects from eastern U.S. port closures, our Utah warehouse receives goods from western U.S. ports, which remain open. Our two warehouses allow us to serve customers throughout the country in a timely manner and with greater fulfillment rates than if we only had one warehouse.
When we first learned of the threat of a strike, we began stocking our warehouses to near-capacity levels, meaning our shelves are full of products that our customers require daily. While there may come a time during this strike where port closures affect our inventory levels, we currently have two full warehouses ready to serve our customers.
As this situation evolves, we will take all steps to procure the products that our customers need while maintaining our dedication to customer service and value.
